LERU - CE7 seminar on research(er) assessment

20.03.2023

More than thirty academics and senior professionals from LERU member universities and seven leading Central European universities (CE7) gathered at Charles University for an inspiring seminar on research(er) assessment. The event, which was held in Prague on 16 and 17 March 2023, was organised within the context of the renewed LERU-CE7 partnership.

The event focused on how to go ahead with the implementation of LERU's paper “A Pathway towards Multidimensional Academic Careers - A LERU Framework for the Assessment of Researchers”, which was published in 2022, and the European Commission’s Research Assessment Reform Agreement. During the first day, the participants had a look at the present situation, with Prof. Bert Overlaet of KU Leuven setting the scene on the assessment of researchers, and Dr Karin Gilland of the University of Zurich presenting the Research Assessment Reform Agreement. Afterwards, the Vice-Rectors of Research of Charles University Prague and the University of Warsaw, Prof. Ladislav Krištoufek and Prof. Zygmunt Lalak, discussed the research assessment methodology at their universities.

The second day focused on the future prospect. Representatives of the University of Copenhagen, KU Leuven, the University of Zurich, and the University of Helsinki gave presentations of recent inspiring developments on research(er) assessment reform at their universities. The event then ended with a discussion about the way forward for LERU and CE7 member universities.
