Trinity College Dublin wins EU Sustainable Gender Equality Champions Award

08.03.2023

The League of European Research Universities (LERU) wishes to congratulate Trinity College Dublin with winning an EU Award for Sustainable Gender Equality Champions. LERU’s member was awarded this prize for their significant and sustained record of activity and high level of achievement through the implementation of their Gender Equality Plans (GEP).

With this new award, the European Commission recognizes academic and research organisations that have achieved outstanding results in the implementation of gender equality measures. LERU member universities recognise that their ambition to deliver the highest quality in research and teaching and to tackle social challenges is best achieved through equal opportunities to participate and succeed for all students, researchers, teachers, professional staff and academic leaders. Therefore, LERU is delighted that the Commission acknowledges the work of the LERU universities.

During the ceremony on 8 March 2023, Prof. Lorraine Leeson, Associate Vice-Provost, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion of Trinity College Dublin and Steering Group Member of the LERU Policy Group Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), accepted the award in the name of the university.

The winners are awarded with €100.000.
