Creative Arts and Research-Intensive Universities: A Crucial Partnership

Buiten Omhoog Kopie

Through this paper Buekers and Nugteren emphasise the importance of the integration of creative arts in research-intensive universities. This integration has three main arguments, mainly the cross-fertilization; the transversal character; and the unique position arts schools have acquired within the larger landscape of higher education. The paper’s overall purpose is to analyse what can be the main policy principles for the creative arts at research-intensive universities. Throughout the paper  Buekers and Nugteren describe a model/framework that can be valuable for designing a cultural policy plan, they also include a list of possible actions universities can undertake to develop or strengthen such a plan: e.g. integration of the international scholars in  an essential part of the policy plan. They conclude that the integration will lead to new ways of thinking.
