Unlocked lock

LERU notes and endorses Open Research Data as a revolution in the way research is conducted. The statement defines open data and elaborates on its benefits, possible copyright issues related to it and some requirements introduced by funder policies with regard to research data. The role of universities, libraries, data centres and data scientists in supporting Open Research Data is also presented in the statement. LERU’s position on open research data is in line with the EC’s recommendations on access to and preservation of scientific information.
