This brochure is the result of different LERU papers on SSH, such as ‘The future of SSH in Europe’ and ‘Social Sciences and Humanities: essential fields for European research and in Horizon 2020’. With this brochure LERU yet again emphasises the major importance of SSH in society: SSH and technology should go hand in hand and not be seen as widely different. Furthermore, LERU stresses that SSH is the key to deal with many current problems in society, such as religious extremism and the financial market. Through this brochure LERU wants to show the amazing research that LERU members have achieved over the years. Wim van den Doel (Universiteit Leiden) applauds the EU research funding that supports interdisciplinary research, however, he underlines that there is still a long way to go.
